The rainforest of Mars sweeps onwards, relentless. The dome of the Vastitas Borealis Reserve may only be microns thick, but the encroaching forest crashes around it like the sea around a rock. At its edge stands a a visitor centre. It is a towering monument to the ecological engineering which has shaped this red and dusty world into a verdant green one.
Visitors become pilgrims, here to see how creation came about. The centre holds laboratories and archives, alongside the extensive mechanical apparatus which keeps the preserve functioning. The people of this new Mars can don protective suits, and get a little closer to the real, authentic world that no longer exists outside this sheltering bubble.
